WHO WE ARE

We Built This Practice Because Electrical Safety Deserved Better

DL and L Energy Consulting is a specialized firm focused on electrical safety, NFPA compliance, and electrical preventive maintenance for manufacturing and industrial facilities. We didn’t come from a corporate safety office. We came from the industry — which means we know what real industrial environments look like, what the pressures are, and what it takes to build a compliance program that actually works in practice.

OSHA requires employers to protect workers from electrical hazards. The National Fire Protection Association mandates the specific standards that define what that protection looks like. Most facilities focus on one or the other. We cover both — and we cover all three standards of the Electrical Cycle of Safety — NFPA 70E, NFPA 70, and NFPA 70B — because gaps in any one of them create risk across all of them.

We’ve seen what happens when arc flash hazards aren’t taken seriously. We’ve seen equipment fail because a maintenance program was deferred year after year. We’ve seen electrical fires that started with problems that a routine infrared scan would have caught. That’s the work we’re here to prevent.

Who Are We

OUR MISSION

We help industrial and manufacturing facilities achieve full compliance with OSHA and NFPA requirements, protect their electrical workers, prevent electrical fires and equipment failures, and keep their operations running without interruption. We do that by covering the complete Electrical Cycle of Safety and by helping clients build a written Electrical Safety Program that makes their compliance concrete, documented, and defensible.

Our Mission

  • Cover the full Electrical Cycle of Safety — NFPA 70E, NFPA 70, and NFPA 70B
  • Protect electrical workers from arc flash, electrical shock, and fire hazards.
  • Prevent electrical fires caused by aging, undermaintained equipment.
  • Eliminate unplanned breakdowns and production shutdowns through proactive maintenance.
  • Build tailored Electrical Safety Programs that meet both OSHA and NFPA requirements.
  • Train workers to recognize and safely manage the hazards they face every day.

THE ELECTRICAL CYCLE OF SAFETY

Two Agencies Mandate This. Most Facilities Only Know One.

Most facility managers know OSHA requires electrical safety compliance. What many don’t realize is that the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) mandates it too. Together, OSHA and the NFPA define what’s called the Electrical Cycle of Safety — three interlocking standards that every industrial and manufacturing facility is expected to follow:

NFPA 70E — Electrical Safety Standard

Governs electrical safety in the workplace. Covers arc flash hazard assessments, equipment labeling, worker training, PPE selection, and safe work practices. OSHA references NFPA 70E as the standard for worker protection. The NFPA mandates it as the foundation of any electrical safety program.

NFPA 70 — National Electrical Code

The National Electrical Code sets the minimum requirements for safe electrical installations in the United States. It is adopted by virtually every jurisdiction and is the legal baseline for any electrical installation, modification, or expansion. Non-compliance exposes your facility to code violations, insurance issues, and significant liability.

NFPA 70B — Electrical Maintenance Standard

Covers the ongoing maintenance of electrical equipment. Proper maintenance under NFPA 70B prevents equipment failure, reduces fire risk, and keeps electrical systems operating safely and efficiently. Facilities that skip preventive maintenance aren’t just risking breakdowns — they’re creating the conditions for electrical fires and worker injuries.
These three standards don’t operate independently. They work together as a complete system. NFPA 70 governs how electrical systems are built. NFPA 70E governs how workers interact with them safely. NFPA 70B governs how they’re maintained over time. Gaps in any one of the three create risk across all three.
DL and L Energy Consulting covers all three — because partial compliance isn’t real compliance.

THE DL & L TURNKEY PACKAGE

One Partner. Complete Coverage. A Tailored Electrical Safety Program Built for Your Facility.

Most facilities piece together their electrical safety and maintenance obligations from multiple vendors — one company for training, another for assessments, another for maintenance. That approach creates gaps, inconsistencies, and headaches when OSHA or the NFPA comes looking.

DL and L Energy Consulting offers a comprehensive turnkey solution that covers every element of the Electrical Cycle of Safety under one roof. We don’t hand you a generic compliance checklist and walk away. We build a tailored Electrical Safety Program specific to your facility, your equipment, your workforce, and your operational realities.

What the Turnkey Package Includes:

  • Full NFPA 70E arc flash hazard assessment and equipment labeling.
  • NFPA 70E arc flash training and certification for your electrical workers.
  • NFPA 70 electrical code review and compliance consulting.
  • NFPA 70B electrical preventive maintenance program — infrared thermography, transformer maintenance, circuit breaker testing, cable testing and fiber optic testing.
  • A written, facility-specific Electrical Safety Program that documents your compliance, your procedures, and your training records in a format that satisfies OSHA and NFPA requirements.
  • Ongoing support to keep your program current as code cycles update and your facility changes.

What It Protects Against::

  • OSHA citations and fines up to $156,259 per willful violation
  • Electrical fires caused by deteriorating equipment and deferred maintenance
  • Unexpected breakdowns and unplanned production shutdowns
  • Worker injuries and fatalities from arc flash and electrical shock
  • Failed audits and costly emergency remediation

Think of it as comprehensive insurance for your electrical infrastructure — except instead of paying out after something goes wrong, it makes sure nothing goes wrong in the first place.

You focus on running your facility. We make sure your electrical systems, your workers, and your compliance program are all taken care of.

WHAT SETS US APART

What Makes DL and L Different

We Know Industrial Environments

Electrical safety and maintenance in manufacturing and industrial settings is what we do. We know the equipment, the environments, and the specific hazards that come with them.

We Cover Both Mandating Bodies

Most safety consultants focus on OSHA. We address both OSHA and NFPA requirements together — because both agencies have authority, and satisfying one doesn’t automatically satisfy the other.

We Build Programs, Not Just Reports

An arc flash assessment binder on a shelf doesn’t make a facility safer. We help clients build functioning Electrical Safety Programs — written procedures, trained workers, maintained equipment, and documented records that hold up to inspections and actually change how the facility operates.

Our Training Changes How People Think

Our NFPA 70E training doesn’t just cover what the standard says. It covers why it matters and what the actual consequences look like. Workers leave understanding arc flash and electrical hazards in a way that stays with them on the job.

We Find Problems Before They Find You

Infrared thermography, transformer diagnostics, circuit breaker testing, cable testing — these services catch problems while they’re still manageable. The cost of proactive maintenance is always lower than the cost of a fire, a failure, or a shutdown.
